Into each life some rain must fall

Gosh it's been such a long time, so much has happened yet much remains the same.

I feel like I have reclaimed my life after many of weeks of frantically running around for one major event or another. Events being mum's 60th, mum's 60th party, Thy's hen, Thy's wedding, moving out and moving in - all very life consuming activities.

I hope to be able to fill you in all these things in the following weeks as I write about the things I have experienced and learnt.

But for today I will just share a poem written by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. Sometime this week the phrase 'Into each life a little rain must fall' popped into my head, and upon doing some research and I came across this prose. I love it, it warms my heart, it reminds me of the oneness of man, we humans, prone to believing that pain is only ours to feel, forget that we all are oft-time drinking of the same cup. Forgetting that before us many have gone through suffering and that after many too will walk that same path. It reminds us that we are not so alone.

The day is cold, and dark, and dreary;
It rains, and the wind is never weary;
The vine still clings to the moldering wall,
But at every gust the dead leaves fall,
And the day is dark and dreary.

My life is cold, and dark, and dreary;
It rains, and the wind is never weary;
My thoughts still cling to the moldering Past,
But the hopes of youth fall thick in the blast
And the days are dark and dreary.

Be still, sad heart! and cease repining;
Behind the clouds is the sun still shining;
Thy fate is the common fate of all,
Into each life some rain must fall,
Some days must be dark and dreary.
- Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Quote of the day

Man becomes a slave to his constantly repeated acts. What he at first chooses, at last compels - Orison Swett Marden

I couldn't go without commenting on todays 'Quote of the day' how powerful! Just think about it and ask yourself, as I am doing right now, what things are you choosing to do, think or partake in that will become a noose around my neck should I not choose now I have the choice/power to change now, as it goes off the top of my head I can think of three things and I sure more will come to me in time. Ummmmm...this is a great quote it has given me a health proportion of food for thought just before bed...hope I don't get indegestion!
